Hello my name is Muin Avianti. It’s been a long time I don’t
write anything in my blog. But ya in this occasion I would like to share an
interesting topic. So, can you guest what the topic is? Yaa, in this
opportunity I would like to share about “what is linguistics?” some people
maybe not even heard about linguistics. And curious about what is actually
linguistics is…
So there are several definition of linguistics by the
Expert:
1.
King T. Nasr (1984), Linguistics deals with
human language as universal and recognizable part of human behavior and human
capabilities
2.
Matthews, Linguistics is defined as the science
of language or the scientific study of language
So based on those definitions we can conclude that Linguistics
is the study of language. What does it mean? Yes, Linguistics is the study that
analyze or learn about language. Language is a phenomenon with a large scale,
there are sounds of the speakers, there are meanings of words and many other
interesting things in language. And this field(Linguistics) will learn all of
them. So if you wonder why we should learn linguistics? To answer that question,
we should know what is the goals of this field. The goals of linguistic is to
developing our knowledge and understanding about language as a universal tool
to all human interactions.
Well, language is very large, so that linguistic study have
a several sub-fields of learning language. There are some major of lingustic
study :
1.
Phonetics
2.
Phonology
3.
Morphology
4.
Syntax
5.
Semantics
